At Barley Fields Primary, our Local Governing Body plays a vital role in ensuring that every child receives the very best education in a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment.
Governors work in partnership with the Head Teacher, staff, parents, and the wider community to provide strategic leadership and accountability across all areas of school life. Together, we help shape the school’s vision, uphold its values, and make sure that pupils’ voices and needs remain at the heart of every decision.
The Governing Body is responsible for:
- Setting the strategic direction of the school – defining its aims, ethos, and long-term priorities.
- Holding the Headteacher and leadership team to account for educational performance, pupil outcomes, and staff wellbeing.
- Overseeing financial performance – ensuring that aspects of the school’s budget is managed responsibly and delivers best value for pupils.
- Ensuring statutory duties are met, including safeguarding, equality, inclusion, and health and safety.
- Championing pupil voice and community engagement, through partnerships with the School Council and Pupil Governors.
Our governors bring a wide range of skills and experiences from education, business, and the community. They volunteer their time to support the school, challenge where needed, and celebrate success.
Together, the Governing Body helps ensure that Barley Fields Primary continues to provide a nurturing, high-quality education where every child can thrive.
