Free School Meals

We want every child to enjoy a healthy, tasty lunch so they can focus, learn and have fun at school. Many families are entitled to free school meals — and applying is easy.

Universal Infant Free School Meals

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 can have a free school lunch every day.
✅ You don’t need to apply.
✅ There’s no income check.
✅ Every child gets a nutritious meal, helping them stay happy and ready to learn.

Free School Meals for Year 3 and Above

If your child is in Year 3 or older, they may still get free school meals if your family receives certain benefits such as:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Universal Credit (below the income threshold)
  • The guarantee element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (with conditions)

Even if your child already gets a free meal through the infant scheme, applying for benefits-based free school meals can help the school receive extra funding to support their learning.

How to Apply

Applying is quick, simple and confidential.
You can apply online through the Stockon-On-Tees council website, or ask at our school office if you’d like a hand.
