At Barley Fields Primary School, the principles of the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award are an integral part of our ethos. We are proud to have been awarded the Gold Award, recognising our commitment to putting children’s rights at the heart of everything we do.
UNICEF works with schools across the UK to create safe, inspiring, and inclusive learning environments where children are respected, their talents nurtured, and they are able to thrive. The Rights Respecting Schools Award embeds these values into daily school life, giving children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to grow into responsible, active citizens.
Guided by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), schools on this journey focus on respecting, protecting, and promoting children’s rights both within school and in the wider community. Over 1.6 million children in the UK attend Rights Respecting Schools, and nearly 5,000 schools across the country are actively working through the Award.
Our Gold Award recognises the achievement of fully embedding these values, ensuring that children’s rights are understood, celebrated, and lived every day at Barley Fields Primary School.
